Slowing down in the Cotswolds
Swan House is a beautifully renovated and extended cottage built with the typical Cotswolds stone in the mid 17th century. It is too big to be called a cottage anymore as it has been lovingly transformed into a country house by the owners. It is located in the smallest village you ever came across, Winson, tucked away in the Coln valley, a truly beautiful part of the Cotswolds. The grounds are simply stunning, and there is even a lake with swans, hence the name ‘Swan House’. Inside the house the owners preserved many original features. The interior decor and finishings are of a very high standard, with a state of the art kitchen (with Aga!). When I was so lucky as to stay there, I stayed in a lovely bedroom with an extremely comfortable bed and got to wear a very comfy bathrobe and use fluffy white towels. Upon arrival a wonderful hamper was waiting, with delicious items from the local farm shop (oh that Victoria sponge!). As it was Autumn, I spent many an evening by the fire in the cosy sitting room. The house sleeps no less than twelve people! So it is the perfect place to spend quality time with family, to really slow down and to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and the lovely Cotswolds villages (of which there are so many!). If you’re looking for a place that can accommodate that many people but which is still very cosy, offers lots of comfort and is located in the most idyllic of locations, I can highly recommend Swan House!
